Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What is GSD?
GSD is an electronic signature platform. Upload a PDF, drop signature, initial, date, and text fields where they go, and send it to signers. They sign in their browser — no account, no app, no clunky vendor portal — and you get the completed file back with a tamper-evident audit trail.
Do signers need to install anything or create an account?
No. Signers open a secure link, review the document, and sign right in their browser on any device. They never need to download software or register for an account.
How fast can I send my first document?
Minutes. Upload a PDF, place fields, add a signer's email, and send. If you reuse documents, save them as templates so the fields are already in place next time.
How does AI field detection work?
When you upload a document, GSD can suggest where the signature, date, and other fields should go — you review the suggestions, adjust anything you like, and send. Behind the scenes, your document is read once by a third-party AI provider just long enough to find the fields; it isn't stored by the provider and is never used to train AI models. Prefer to place every field yourself? Turn AI features off in Settings. On paid plans you can also choose which AI model is used, and Business plans can bring their own provider key.
Legality & compliance
Are signatures created with GSD legally binding?
Yes. Electronic signatures collected through GSD are intended to be legally binding under the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA, and are recognized as electronic signatures under the EU's eIDAS Regulation. Advanced (AES) and Qualified (QES) electronic signatures are available via add-ons. As with any e-signature, it's your responsibility to confirm electronic signing is appropriate for your specific document type and jurisdiction — GSD does not provide legal advice.
What's in the audit trail?
Every view, click, and signature is timestamped and recorded with the signer's IP address and a SHA-256 hash of the document. A Certificate of Completion is generated automatically and travels with the signed file, so the record is tamper-evident and verifiable.
Do you support signer identity verification?
You can require an access code before a signer can open a document. For higher-assurance needs such as qualified electronic signatures (QES) or notarization, those are handled through add-ons rather than the standard flow.
Are AI-suggested fields legally valid?
Yes — just as valid as fields you place by hand. A signature's legal validity comes from the signer's deliberate action and the tamper-evident audit trail, not from who drew the field box on the page. AI only suggests where fields go; you always review and confirm everything before the document is sent, so the envelope that reaches your signer is one you approved.
Pricing & plans
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan lets you send up to 5 documents for signature each month at no cost, with the full audit trail included — no credit card required. Signing and receiving documents is always unlimited.
What if I need to send more than the free plan allows?
Two options, no lock-in: buy pay-as-you-go credits and pay only for what you send, or upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited sending plus custom branding, more templates, and team seats.
How does pay-as-you-go pricing work?
You're billed per document as you finish preparing it — transparent, with no subscription and no overage surprises. Your price settles the moment the document is ready to send.
What happens to my credits if I cancel?
Unused pay-as-you-go credits never expire — they stay on your account until you use them. We don't refund unused credits, but you can keep sending until they're spent.
Security & data
Who can see my documents?
Only you, your team members, and the signers you send to. Documents are accessed through unguessable secure links, and you control who's invited to each envelope.
Can a signed document be altered afterward?
No — that's the point of the tamper-evident audit trail. The completed file is sealed with a hash and the audit record, so any change is detectable. The Certificate of Completion lets anyone verify the document hasn't been modified since signing.
