Common questions
Is a generated signature legal?
On its own, an image is just an image. Under the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA what makes an electronic signature binding is the signer's intent and the record around it: proof of who signed, when, and that the document hasn't changed since. Pasting a PNG into a PDF provides none of that. Signing through /sign-pdf does: you get a tamper-evident audit trail and a Certificate of Completion. More on security and legal validity.
Where does my signature go?
Nowhere. The image is composed in your browser and saved straight to your device. There is no upload, no server copy, and nothing for us to keep or delete. That's why this page asks nothing of you.
Can I use it in Word or Google Docs?
Yes. The download is a PNG with a transparent background, so it sits over the page rather than on a white box. Insert it as a picture and size it to the signature line.
Should I email a signed image to people?
Be careful with it. An image of your signature can be lifted from any document you send and reused by someone else. That is the practical argument for signing through a service that records each signature against the specific document it belongs to.
Can I draw instead of typing?
Yes. The "Draw it" tab gives you a pad that works with a mouse, a trackpad, or a finger on a touchscreen. A drawn signature usually looks more like your real one.
