PandaDoc alternatives

The first question to ask when you're comparing PandaDoc alternatives: do you need a proposal and document-automation suite, or do you need to get documents signed? PandaDoc is built as the former. E-signature is one feature inside a much bigger product for building proposals, quotes, and sales documents. That's a real strength if you're producing polished, priced sales collateral every week. If you're mostly signing contracts, NDAs, waivers, or intake forms, you may be paying for a lot of product you'll never open.

What PandaDoc actually is

PandaDoc's core product is document automation for sales teams. You get a drag-and-drop document builder, a reusable content library of approved clauses and media, pricing tables, CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot, and others), approval workflows, and, on higher plans, CPQ (configure-price-quote) tooling for complex product pricing. E-signature is included throughout, but it's the finishing step on a document PandaDoc helped you build. For a sales team that sends priced proposals daily and wants approvals routed automatically before a document goes out, that's valuable and hard to replicate by stitching separate tools together.

PandaDoc's pricing, as of September 2026

From PandaDoc's own pricing page (annual billing; month-to-month costs more):

PlanRoughlyBuilt for
Free eSign$060 documents per year, no credit card required
Starter$19 per seat per month, billed annuallyUnlimited document uploads and e-signatures
Business$49 per seat per month, billed annuallySales proposals and integrated agreement workflows
EnterpriseCustomEnd-to-end document workflows and advanced automations; per-seat or per-document pricing

Those are per-seat prices, and the proposal-building and workflow features that justify PandaDoc's cost sit on the paid tiers. Say your team is three people and only one of you sends documents, or you don't need a content library because you aren't building priced proposals. Then you're evaluating a sales-document platform for a job that amounts to "get this PDF signed."

Where PandaDoc is the better choice

  • Sales teams building proposals and quotes regularly. If pricing tables, a reusable content library, and CPQ matter to how you sell, PandaDoc's document builder does work no e-signature-only tool attempts.
  • Teams already living in a CRM. Native Salesforce/HubSpot sync on the Business tier keeps deal documents and signature status attached to the record automatically.
  • Approval chains before a document goes out. Most pure e-signature tools have no built-in approval workflow at all.

Where a signature-only tool like GSD fits better

If your workflow is "I already have the PDF or Word document, I need it signed," GSD is built around that step and nothing else. You upload the document, GSD's AI places signature, date, and text fields automatically, and you review and send. Signers open a link in any browser on phone or desktop and sign without an account or an app. Every completed document comes back with a tamper-evident audit trail (a SHA-256 hash, signer IP addresses, and timestamps) and a Certificate of Completion, and GSD is ESIGN and UETA compliant.

The pricing is per-envelope-friendly rather than strictly per-seat. The Free plan covers 5 documents a month with no card required. Past that, pay-as-you-go credits ($0.05/page for the first 10 pages, $0.01/page after, credits never expire) handle overflow without forcing a plan change. Pro ($12/month) and Business ($49/month) add unlimited documents, templates, custom branding, bulk CSV send, and payment collection. There's no content library, no CPQ, and no CRM sync, because that's not what the product is for.

What GSD doesn't do: build proposals or priced quotes, maintain a content library, route multi-step approvals, or connect to a CRM. There's also no native mobile app (any mobile browser works fine) and no Word or Google Docs add-in. For Google Docs, export to PDF first, then upload. GSD does not hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification and does not sign HIPAA BAAs; check GSD's security page for the current state before relying on it for anything regulated.

How to decide

Ask one question before comparing feature lists: does your document need to be built, or does it only need to be signed? If you're assembling proposals from a content library, pricing product bundles, or routing approvals through a sales stack, PandaDoc's suite earns its per-seat price. If the document already exists (a contract your lawyer drafted, a signed intake form, a service agreement) and the only step left is getting a signature on it, a signature-only tool saves you from paying for a proposal platform you won't use. It's also worth comparing against DocuSign alternatives and Dropbox Sign alternatives. All three sit at different points on the same spectrum, from "pure signing" to "full document suite."

Want to see how the simple version works? Sign a PDF yourself in the browser free, or create a free GSD account to send your first document. You get 5 a month, no card required.

Frequently asked questions

Does PandaDoc do more than e-signature?

Yes. Its core product is a document builder for proposals and quotes, with a content library, pricing tables, CRM integrations, and (on higher tiers) CPQ. E-signature is included but is one feature among many.

Is PandaDoc's free plan good enough for e-signature only?

PandaDoc's free plan includes 60 documents per year with no credit card required, or roughly five a month. That suits occasional signing. Beyond it, you move to a per-seat paid plan.

Is PandaDoc worth it if I don't build proposals?

Probably not on its own merits. Most of what you'd pay for on the Business or Enterprise tiers (content library, CRM sync, CPQ, approval workflows) goes unused if you're only getting existing documents signed.

What's a simpler alternative for just signing documents?

GSD is built around upload, place fields, send, with no document-building layer. There's a Free plan for 5 documents a month, then pay-as-you-go credits for overflow, and paid tiers for teams that need templates and bulk send.

Can GSD replace PandaDoc for a sales team?

Not for teams that rely on PandaDoc's proposal builder, content library, or CRM integrations. GSD doesn't build documents or connect to a CRM. It fits once the document already exists and needs signatures.
